Dump Load

We have had different advice as to where to situate the dump load.  We are intending to use a water heater rather than just waste it.  We can use the Aux output to a relay but where should the relay be situated In the feed from the hydro, or the 24 volt feed to the battery? Or any other suggestions thank you

Well lets get a little more info. You have a solar array? How big is it? How big is the Hydro? Do you want to divert to the water heater with AC or DC?
