Trouble connecting with Classic

I feel like I should be on leather sofa...

"My Classic just won't communicate with me."

Okay, I've got one connected and working fine for over a year now; both Local App & mymidnite work fine.  It's an Ethernet cable from the Classic 250 to my router, a Linksys E1200.  The first one is set to a static IP: 192.168.1.130.  The SN: 255.255.255.0.  The GW: 192.168.1.1; D1: 192.168.0.1; D2:192.168.1.1.

So I finally got around to running a cable to the second Classic.  I set it up similarly: IP:192.168.1.135. The SN: 255.255.255.0.  The GW: 192.168.1.1; D1: 192.168.0.1; D2: was 192.168.1.1, but I just tried resetting it to 0.0.0.0, and power cycling, after reading some of the tips on mymidnite.com.

On the Local App I get, "device not available".

What have a missed?  Thanks for any suggestions.  ~ks

Can you ping the Classic's IP address from your PC ?

Sounds like a ping would help in this case. Is the computer set up for two static IP's?

speaking of two IPs, I notice that one of your D's are this...

D1: 192.168.0.1

Which is different than all the others (D1: 192.168.1.1)  but I'm not sure if it should matter or not.

Pretty sure it won't help.

Yeah that would cause My Midnite not to work but should not effect the local app.

What I would do is set the problem classic back to DHCP and reboot. See if it gets a good IP and then see if the Local App can connect. If not then it may be a cable or classic issue. If so it could be a double use of IP or something.

Another thing you could try is manually entering that IP into the Local App and seeing if it can find it.

I just yesterday, had an issue, where my power shed router had gone off for about 2 days. (dam GFI outlet, the transfer switch trips it off one out of ten times when my generator shuts off)
So, everything had lost it's DHCP address, and when it restarted, it assigned new addresses (the combox and classic got each others old address)   I eventually had to take the laptop to the shed to unscramble it, but what a pain.

Some routers will let you assign IP addresses based on the unique device MAC address. I prefer giving most devices static addresses but the "by MAC address" method is an option on some routers.

Good luck with it all.

No success with the "ping".  Ryan got me to thinking that I may have pulled on that dang network cable a bit too hard.  I had routed it through the basement, and up into the Classic without issue, but on the end where the router is the hole through a step in the floor levels was just a bit too small for adding one more cable (with the pre-fitted terminal end).  I think I decided this too late after I'd pulled on it a bit harder than I should have on my 'snake'.  Oops.

Anyhow I strung a new cable upstairs - shortest point to point route - and viola!  We're up and running.  Looks good on the local app; looks good on mymidnite.

Thank you very, very much for the helpful comments.  This is definitely not my strong-suit.
