I started this topic over here as it comes from another thread about monitoring two Classics on the Local App and then morphed to battery charging with 'follow me' in general.  Since my two Classics are on different firmware versions I intend to update the older one to match the newer one (2079).  Since I don't have anything smaller than a desktop tower running windows 10.1, I'll try a Netbook running Ubuntu & Wine since it is easier to get it over to the site.  I've already been able to run the updater program (Win98 et al version) in Wine but  I haven't gotten around to updating the Classic yet since I've been busy putting up the last 400W of PV I had hidden in the back of the garage.   ;)

I thought I'd go ahead and start this thread in case anyone else has already updated Classic Firmware to 2079 with Ubuntu and can confirm it is possible or share any caveats.  Otherwise, I'll probably get around to attempting the update myself soon and let everyone know what to look out for if anything.  Thanks guys.
