Hi there.

Reposting from the Classic faq's page......my mistake. ::)

I there. Had considerable trouble registering. :(

We installed two (2) Classic 150's on our Off-Grid 4.5Kw Solar/24VDC 1200 amp AGM battery setup in 2015. The system has run well with no issues at all with the Classic 150's until early last year.

The issue is that one unit's LED display started going bright then dark, then after about 12-18months of this faded out over a period of weeks early last year. Now it is blank.
The two units are set up in follow me mode, so assume that is what's happening. Now the second unit is doing the same thing, the display alternating between bright and dark at times.

I purchased a new display from a dealer in Australia, the only one in the country I was told. I was also told that the MidNite Solar equipment is out dated and I should change to Victron. (Sales pitch ?)

Received the new LED display today and its the wrong one. Only has one (1) button. Which model Solar Controller it fits I do not know but the part number on the box is MNLP. (That problem solved. It is for the Classic Lite model)

I have contacted Midnite Solar via their web form last year about the display problem, in about September 2024, and still waiting for a reply.

So my question is,
1) Is there a US supplier that can ship to Australia a replacement LED display ?.
2) Can this one be fixed ?.
3) Is this problem a common issue ?.

PS. 2 pics added. One pic shows the new display with one button. Pics are not good but you can just make out that the right hand units display shows an LED display, although faint.

EDIT: The display supplied as a replacement is for the Classic Lite model.

Thankyou in advance.

I don't remember ever hearing of an MNGP display going out on the forums here.
When it was fading out did you try all the back light, contrast,  and backlight  settings for the MNGP to see if that would make the display any different ?
Did you try a different cable between the top jack in the Classic and the MNGP ?
I am just trying to think of the first easy things to trouble shoot. I don't ever remember hearing of a MNGP going out.
You can try plugging the MNGP into the second jack inside the Classic - I think that works too but maybe you wouldn't get the backlight. At least you could diagnose if there is some issue with the top jacks.
Try opening another ticket on their website again .
Do you use the Local Status software on a computer ? That won't help with the MNGP directly but will give you access to the Classic so you can see what it is doing or change settings if you needed to.
