Currently, it's all turning into runoff.  Got 1.8" today, can't always trust the forecast !    But some is soaking in, and all the trees are loving it, lots of buds forming up.  Now to hope we don't get hard frosts in Feb/Mar.

Side question : Why do Charge Controllers never come with the ability to charge via a genset? I would be happy to purchase an auxillary component to hook between a genset and the PV input of the Classic if that were ever available or possible.

Inverters typically are inverter/generators. I own a VFX3648, however, they come preset for Pb voltage set-points. If I want to customize them I have to purchase a Mate in order to do so. I would be essentially buying a mate just to change the voltage set-points once and then have no use for the mate. (I use Midnites monitoring so the outback stuff isn't a bonus to me)

Additionally I have come to trust what the Classic is doing and how it handles the charging to safely work with LFP cells.

I know what you mean - but at least I have some friends who have an Outback Mate I can borrow to make changes on the inverter setpoints. I think dgd and others were working on getting raspberry pi or arduino to be able to talk directly to inverter without using the Mate. Not sure how that project is coming along but I think I will look it up now.
found this - maybe I will ask dgd in the open software section of this group

I would not keep doing the firmware that cant be it. It has to be something on the settings or on Andrews end. When you are there PM me the Device ID and Mac address and I will work with Andrew to sort this out, or RMA the Classic.

Ryan, Andrew,

OK so the board is in place and a FW reset done now I am trying to use the L App to reenter my settings for the FW version

First I see that is a new IP address showing  192.168.1.60 and the LA will not connect to the old one...

down  to the MNGP,  and look for new stuff,   SN is listed as 27521, MNGP FW 2054, Classic FW2056

I try 27501 in the L APP, nada, try old SN 4592  that works,

Reset all specific values I want....  the only one that will not respond is Battery capacity... ???

I successfully updated to FW2079   ;D :) @ 20:50 tonight...

Andrew,

at 21:10 PST I changed the DNS override to 159.203.65.201 so please tell me the MM2 site is connected to 192.168.1.60:502...  please?

PPS 21:43
the new setup does NOT INCLUDE a way to name new devices anymore, so where the hell did thst function go?all you get is the \mac attack address and the Device ID....... not a happy camper....

Did you reboot the unit once changing the DNS Override address? Did you verify that WEB ACCESS is still set to enabled? Are you sure that the firmware update took? I've seen a few folks go through the process successfully but for some reason the update didn't take.

You could never name the Classic from the website. The website reads the Classic's name from the Classic. Use the MNGP or the Local App to set it locally. If you aren't seeing the Classic's name on the website then it hasn't connected. Expand the Info badge by clicking on the right-facing triangle and click on the "Device" tab. If the "Firmware Revision" field is set to 0 then the Classic hasn't called in yet.

MyMidNite has no information on what IP address your Classic is on. 192.168.x.x are private networking addresses anyway and change to your router's IP address once it leaves your house. The Classic calls out to MyMidNite and if it can't get there it won't deliver any data. MyMidNite DOES NOT call in back to your house. It cannot as most ISPs use dynamic IP addresses for the WAN-facing side of your router.

The only place to change the classics name is on the local app.

I thought we put a name on the system on Mymidnite website ?  At least that is how I did it initially. In Mymidnite there is a tab that takes on the name that you gave it by clicking + Add systems and devices.  Maybe we are talking about different things.

Sure, you can name systems. You can even delete them now! But you can't name classics themselves using the site which I think is what the statement was.

Hi Andrew, OK, there must be a bad upgrade...  The Classic was called ....'Classic'   so there are no comms taking place,
Yes Web access was enabled and in STATIC mode.

Andrew, can to tell me the versions of FW that will work together with V 2079?  I have:
2079 (up from 2056)  &
Gp 2054, no change
& NW V 2073,  no change

VMM done....

ADD: Just noticed another non connection oddity,
I still get Un-named for Device name on MM2 after entering the MAC and Dev name...

Is this related to the number I had to use to use the L app, 4592, vs the new board has its name as Classic 27501? or is it the non comm going on ?

here is a capture..

I just deleted that ''Unnamed'' device and then reloaded all the info, saw the messages at the bottom of the screen etc, but the name change was not detected or transfered

WB ..  when I had to change that top control board they loaded my old (original) S/N into the new (replacement)board at the factory IIRC. So it would look like my original unit. Not sure what is going on with yours, but I thought somewhere they told me about that but it may have been in an email exchange.
