I hope you are correct Andrew..... but 100% of all my MM V3 connections have come up EMPTY....

so is there some other 'hook' that keeps me going to the bad DB?

Well in some cases it might be a genuine problem, though if you were able to get to MMv1&2 there should be no problem getting to 3 if the settings are correct? Just to double check I'd verify that you can contact MMv3 from your installation site from a PC if you haven't already of course!

Westbranch

OK, so am I correct in believing that this screen capture tells me I'm there?

Yeah if that's on site you should be fine. If the unit isn't calling in though there's obviously something else going funny.

Westbranch

How can  I check whether it is able to call in ?

I did a little digging and found a tool in WhatismyIP >  IP LOOKUP...  so what did I find?

A timeout occurs at the same address 162.243.188.194....The CULPRIT is an outfit called DIGITAL OCEAN, sound familiar ?

How about:

Hostname:   www1-zaphodbeeblebrox.mymidnite.com
ISP:   Digital Ocean
Organization:   Digital Ocean

Hostname:   162.243.188.194  Whoever this is???
ASN:   393406
ISP:   Digital Ocean
Organization:   Digital Ocean

So What is going on?  It is there but not there as their computer bounces it???

Doug , I did the same trace 3 times over half an hour and then again all with similar(same as I did not arrive)  results, though a different set of addresses...  no arrival for takeoff...  I really am suspicious as the MM V3 servers do not have any data for more than 10 days now while the old MM worked,....

You probably won't be able to get a ping response from mymidnite2 as I've disabled public ICMP for security reasons.

I haven't seen your device show up in the logs at all, at least nothing associated with the device ID 1493 60FF if that one is yours, WB.

If you are so inclined, you _could_ try wireshark and see if there is anything coming out of your Classic. It should be talking to someone as long as web access is enabled and the MM Override is set unless it is totally broken of course.

Well I will have to wait till I get back out there..

Classic is 4592 and I am getting Local App connection

will look into wireshark

ADD1:  4592 was talking to MMv1

ADD2: Yes that ID is my Classic,

Andrew, from a "how to use Wireshark  .."

You’ll probably see packets highlighted in green, blue, and black. Wireshark uses colors to help you identify the types of traffic at a glance. By default, green is TCP traffic, dark blue is DNS traffic, light blue is UDP traffic, and black identifies TCP packets with problems

Am I correct in thinking that it is DNS traffic I should track? or is it TCP and TCP packet problems?

I'm not Andrew and he may have you look for something specific. But if it was me I would make sure the LA is not connected and look for TCP IP traffic with the IP address of your Classic and see who that address is talking to if anyone.

If you don't see and responses you could turn the LA on and see if you can see TCP IP traffic between the classic and your PC. If you are doing these off site you may see more traffic than if you were locL and on site.

Just my two cents. Some were on here I posted a snap shot of a local wire shark trace. I'll have too see if I can find it.

Here it is. http://kb1uas.com/mnsforum/index.php?PHPSESSID=d7f7e6b266fe909a9c9cd3e9463d514c&topic=1054.msg8230#msg8230

For Wireshark with MM traffic, simply filter on HTTP traffic. You can add the IP of your Classic as well:

http && ip.addr==192.168.xx.xx

Note that the PC running wireshark may or may not see the traffic from the classic depending on where it is located and your particular network hardware. In order to be truly scientific about it, it is best to put the PC between the Classic and the router and setup a network bridge. This does require two ethernet ports or one ethernet and one wireless. Alternately you can use an older hub (not switch!) which will route all traffic to all ports.

Westbranch

Andrew, looks like I may be able to use my older Netgear DS104 hub to intercept the comms from the Classic to MM,  fingers crossed  :o Not sure when I'll be out , a full week ahead right now...
